Following last year’s very successful Al Fresco Fund Raising Dinner, the students of EPI HORECA and the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies (FHTMS) are again, under the initiative and guidance of Marin Bijl and the Food and Beverage staff of Divi and Tamarijn All Inclusive Resort along with new participating partners, preparing another wonderful evening for the Aruban community. This event will be slightly different, instead of the five-course paired dinner, this year there will be taster stations, introducing the guest to the delicate tastes of a variety of global culinary regions. The foods will be paired with an assortment of wines and other beverages that will titillate the taste buds. The menu: still under review by chef’s and students will include For example Mexico: Chicken Taco’s – Chipotle Chicken – Beef Tostada – Quesadilla Beef – Shrimp Cerviche Mediterranean: Sauté Mussel in Leek White Wine Sauce – Papa A la Brava – Creamy Garlic Shrimp Asian: Thai Grill: Crispy Thai Fried Ribs in Ponzu Sauce – Spicy Chicken Sate Roll Sushi: California Roll – Beef Sushi – Chicken Sushi – Vegetarian Sushi – Seafood Sushi. Japanese: Stuffed Figs with Goat Cheese – Chicken and Scallion Skewer – Salted Chicken Wrap Aruban: Funchi Hasa – Fish Soup (Shot Glass) – Cucumber Stoba – Stew Beef Dutch: Bitterballen –Gerookt Ham met Asperagus – Haring op Rogge brood – Gevilde Ei – Kaas Souffle – Cocktail van Hollandse Garnalen met Cognac sauce Italian: To be Announced. Coffee and Desserts Passion Fruit Cheese Cake – Pecan Tart – Macaroons – Eclairs – Fruit Tartalette. Beverages Will be paired and prepared by Arion, Aruba Trading Company, Peppia Est, Romar Trading, Tropical Bottling The event will again be held on the beautiful grounds of the University of Aruba, with assistance from Eventions, Vibrations, Angelo Koolman, Sharp Productions and Sunny Ray Entertainment: Reception: Angelo Koolman and Main event: Bamboo band The event has two purposes: The first is to have a working classroom, where students organize an actual event, from menu preparation, meal preparation, marketing, set up, serving, and breakdown. The second is as a fund-raising event where all monies will be donated to the students of EPI and FHTMS to facilitate field trips and culinary activities. Tickets for this event will be available at the University of Aruba, from the Dean of FHTMS office based in the CEC building. Cost per couple is only $150.00. or $75.00 (All you can eat and drink!) The evening starts at 7:00 p.m. with a welcome drink and two Hors D’ Oeuvres, before the Global Culinary Experience is opened up in the student park at 7:30. p.m. Bamboo Band will be performing throughout the evening, providing that special musical ambiance.
